The White House produced a readout of last week’s Venezuela Day Diaspora Event.
The White House Office of Public Engagement convened over 90 Latino leaders from the Venezuelan community to discuss the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing efforts and investments within the Latino community.
During the first panel, participants discussed the Biden-Harris Administration’s effort to expand legal pathways, including the expansion and redesignation of Venezuela TPS and the Cuban, Nicaraguan, Haitian, and Venezuelan parole programs. They shared their personal stories about these programs.
In the second panel, Biden-Harris Administration officials discussed how President Biden’s economic agenda, Bidenomics, is helping to create economic opportunities for Latinos and outlined initiatives available for equitable access to government programs, including the Department of Health and Human Services’ Language Access Plan, the Small Business Digital Alliance, and the Hispanic Initiative for Educational Excellence. President Biden issued a Proclamation on the Death of Sandra Day O’Connor, ordering that that on the day of her interment, the flag of the United States shall be flown at half‑staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset on such day.

Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer led a U.S. delegation to New Delhi on December 4 for an intercessional review of the U.S-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) with Indian Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri. The iCET is a major milestone in the U.S.-India partnership, which is increasingly defined by strategic security and technology cooperation.
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan issued a statement regarding an administrative arrangement on behalf of The United States and the European Union to bring together experts from across the U.S. and Europe to further research on artificial intelligence (AI), computing, and related privacy-protecting technologies, as underscored in the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) commitment. A press briefing was conducted by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in the James Brady Press Briefing Room at The White House. Ms. Jean-Pierre opened with statistics on gun violence and the efforts on behalf of the Biden Administration and bipartisan action to improve gun safety. Both she and Jake Sullivan spoke on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza and stressed the importance of Congress coming together in a bipartisan fashion to provide continued funding for Ukraine in its efforts against Russian aggression.
Mr. Sullivan remarked, “So, at this point, it’s a pretty simple choice. The Congress has got to step up and provide the funding because in the absence of that, as Director Young put it, there’s not a magical pot of money out there that we can go dip into that we have been hiding off in the corner.” Watch the press briefing and read the transcript.
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with a delegation of Philippine labor leaders to discuss President Biden’s recent Presidential Memorandum to advance workers’ rights globally and the importance of freedom of association and collective bargaining in promoting of sustainable economic growth and strong democratic societies. National Security Advisor Sullivan reiterated the Biden Administration’s commitment to support the efforts of workers in the United States and abroad to form unions, and condemned all forms of harassment, intimidation, and violence against workers and advocates for exercising their fundamental rights.
