The President issued a statement on extending the humanitarian pause in Gaza, stating that The humanitarian pause has enabled a significant surge in additional humanitarian assistance to the innocent civilians suffering across the Gaza Strip. The United States has led the humanitarian response into Gaza—building on years of work as the largest funder of humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. First Lady Jill Biden gave remarks at a roundtable with National Guard families and children.
President Biden issued a statement regarding the three college students of Palestinian descent, two of whom are American citizens, who were shot Saturday in Burlington, Vermont. He spoke to Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger to offer his support. He thanked the Burlington Police Department and the FBI, ATF, and other law enforcement partners for their swift work identifying and arresting a suspect.
A press briefing was held by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby. Ms. Jean-Pierre began the briefing by expressing the President and First Lady’s concern for the shooting victims in Burlington, VT. She continued with remarks on the continued success of the American economy. Mr. Kirby gave updates on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, as well as information on the continuing humanitarian pause in the region. Both answered questions from reporters.
